ABOUT BROCK

Brock Ryan is a nationally recognized high-rise life safety consultant to prominent Fortune 500 and real estate companies including the AT&T Campus in Metro Atlanta and a large soft drink bottling company based in Atlanta.

After the World Trade Center attacks in 2001, Brock became passionate about making sure building management had a plan for a potential tragedy for Class A structures. He retired from the Fire Marshall’s Office and in 2002, he founded Life Safety Solutions Plus, LLC. Brock quickly became the resident expert on preparedness and training for the high-rise buildings in the southeast.

In 2012, he partnered with Paul Merritt and Karla Baldini to form and operate Fortress Consulting, a workplace violence consulting firm, in order to address the safety needs that the real estate and business community face today.
​
Brock’s passion for emergency preparedness grew from his role as a Lieutenant for the Atlanta Fire Department, where he inspected high-rise buildings for code compliance and disaster preparedness.

Brock provides emergency planning and crises management for many major events, and was the EMS Operations Director for the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay and the current medical director for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation cycling events.

ABOUT DWAYNE

Dwayne Johnson has been serving with a local fire department in a major city since 1996 and retired as Chief Officer in 2025.

Dwayne spent four of those years of service in the Fire Marshall’s office inspecting high rise structures for fire code compliance and evacuation preparedness and procedures. That was where he received very valuable experience and knowledge that he brings to Life Safety.

Dwayne earned a Master’s Degree in Public Administration. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Homeland Security and an Associates Degree in Fire Science. He is nationally certified as a Fire Inspector through the NFPA.

Dwayne has authored emergency response plans for Georgia Power, AT&T Atlanta Portfolio and other major high-rise structures in Atlanta and other cities in the US.

Dwayne enjoys traveling, playing basketball and working on his car. He has been married since 1994 and has two adult children.

ABOUT COLIN

Colin Jackson is a retired City of Atlanta Firefighter. That was where he initially met the founder of Life Safety Solutions, Brock Ryan. Colin retired after serving almost 30 years on the fire department and sought ways to continue to satisfy his passion for helping others.

After a number of “chance encounters” with Brock, he joined the Life Safety team in 2012 as a Consultant and Trainer. In 2016, Colin accepted the position of Director of Operations for the team.

“I’ve always had a genuine love for people and my desire to keep them safe is very important to me. I love to see our clients grow in their emergency preparedness and I believe the first step in that endeavor is their buy-in to the actual need to be prepared.”

Colin has been state certified in Life Safety Code as well as Building Construction (Non-Combustible and Combustible). His experience and knowledge is a great contribution to the Life Safety organization.

In addition to enjoying emergency preparedness consulting, Colin is also a real estate investor, an author, a multi-instrument musician and an avid golfer.

ABOUT VINCE

Vincent Miller is a retired Fire Service Professional from the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department. During his career he served in many capacities that has uniquely equipped him as a life safety consultant.

Vince holds several certifications in public safety. He served as an Internal Affairs Investigator, Mandated Peace Officer, State of Georgia Certified Fire Inspector and State of Georgia Certified Education Specialist 1&2. He also earned a State of Georgia Building Construction Certification.

Vince believes that preparation is a very vital part of life. “We are not preparing for the world we live in – we are preparing for the world we find ourselves in.”

He is a native Atlantan and married with one child. He enjoys recreational golf as well as coaching football and traveling with family and friends.
